Last Saturday and Sunday night, the Dramatic Society staged a very successful production of the Marvel comics Jessica Jones series. A cast of 12 actors, 5 stage hands, 1 stage manager and 1 guest usher put on a 3-hour stage adaptation of a 13-hour TV show in the Hope Theatre lecture hall.
The Dramatic Society reported that ‘the feedback was spectacular, with resounding applause both nights. Many family and friends attended the Saturday night, with the Sunday night mostly featuring people with no connection to the cast. There were even audience members who had no dealings with the cast staying behind to congratulate and take photos and even autographs in some instances. The Sunday night performance saw a standing ovation for Elise Vohradsky, the actress playing Jessica Jones’.
Some written feedback from those who attended:
"If you're in Wollongong tonight (Hope Theatre, last show, tickets are free), I heavily recommend this play. Watched it last night and I was blown away how well done it was - completely blew away my expectations for it. Cast is phenomenal."
"That was an epic masterpiece !!! Thanks for making all out nights !! Will there be an opportunity to buy a film recording if avail, if so put me down for one !!"
Fantastic night and awesome show."
"JJ herself was very impressive. it's difficult to carry the energy when you are in every scene but she nailed it."
Congratulations to the Dramatic Society on a fantastic event! We very much look forward to seeing what will come next!
