2018 Northern Territory Trip

The Northern Territory Trip involves selected members of UOW SHARP participating in the desertSMART EcoFair; visiting Aboriginal Elders at Purple House Western Dialysis; and networking with UOW medical students on placement in the Northern Territory. This is the third year UOW SHARP will be participating in the desertSMART EcoFair, whereby members of UOW SHARP are facilitate rural health workshops, such as: a health careers workshop; a blood pressure workshop; and a plastering workshop anatomical for primary school students and high school students.
The aim of this event is to promote careers in rural and remote health for both the members of UOW SHARP attending the event and the primary school students and high school students attending the desertSMART EcoFair. The aim of this event as a rural school visit and Indigenous event responds to the aims of the National Rural Health Student Network (NRHSN); UOW SHARP is one of the 28 Rural Health Clubs (RHCs) part of the NRHSN.
Members of UOW SHARP who attend this event will gain a unique rural experience in which they are presented with the opportunity to network with community members of Alice Springs, visit Purple House Western Dialysis and network with UOW medical students on placement in the Northern Territory.
