August Recap

06/Sep/2013

Wow what a month!

UOW Rotaract has bolted out of the starters blocks this spring session and has already been at twelve events. So far this session we have attended:

            -Clubs day

-Combined Clubs Rotary Dinner in Wollongong

           -Welcome to Wollongong

           -Daffodil Day

           -CSE Trivia Night

           -Asylum Seeker Forum

           -ICIS Welcome Evening

            -Various CSE Training events

We continue to move towards a meaningful collaboration with SCARF in Wollongong and will be assisting with Coaching of a Beach Soccer team and assisting with the Homework Help program.

This month also saw our Humans vs Zombies event (which happened back in July) gain further traction in the local media, featuring in an article in the Illawarra Mercury.

An article written by yours truly also featured on Rotary’s End Polio Now blog and has shot to over 100 shares on Facebook. It has been pretty crazy.

In the month ahead we continue to assist the wider Rotary district and will be attending the Nepalese New Year (this Saturday), assisting with spring into Corrimal (this Sunday) and assisting with Relay for Life on the 21-22 of September.

We continue to meet weekly and have started mixing it up with a social element. Last week we played a game that my Vice President informs me is called The Warewolves of Lys, this week villagers must try not to get eaten!

If you would like to come along to a meeting sometime feel free to email me and I can provide you with details. UOW Rotaract usually meets Tuesdays at 3:30. A fixed room is still being worked out, but, we hope to have a permanent home soon.

Be sure to follow our Facebook page for updates concerning the club.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

President of UOW Rotaract 2013-14
