To kick off 2019, the OC is of course bringing back our most popular event - the Sublime Point Twilight Hike! If you're new to the area and looking to make some new friends then this is the event for you. What could be better than heading up to one of the area's most popular scenic destinations at sunset without the crowds and seeing the city light up?!
IMPORTANT: In order to control numbers you will need to register for this event, so please follow the link on this page to get a ticket.
The number of attendees will be capped, and if you're not on the registered list of attendees we will have to turn you away - get in quick!
For those who have never hiked Sublime, it is a short, but steep walking track up the escarpment in Austinmer.
It's steps all the way up, plus a few ladders, so you'll need to be reasonably fit.
What you'll need:
A sturdy pair of walking shoes (no thongs etc)
A torch so that you can see - head torch or handheld torch advised, phone torches won't be enough.
A snack if you think you'll get hungry.
Water bottle and any personal medication you may have (asthma sufferers take note!)
Transport will be via carpooling, so head to the Facebook page to grab a lift, or to let people know if you've got spare seats. There is a train station in Austinmer, but the walk from the station to the start of the walk is a little lengthy, and probably not your best bet. Uber if you're desperate.
Please do not bring glowsticks. They may look cool, but they are environmentally damaging and useless when it comes to lighting your way. The Outdoor Club follows a strict "Leave No Trace" policy - respect the environment around you, always carry out what you carry in and leave the bush how you would want to find it.
