Have you ever felt that there must be many interesting people on campus outside your working environment who you would like to get to know and spend some relaxing time with?

As the University has grown it has become more difficult to do this, but the University of Wollongong Social Club is bridging the gap.

It is bridging together academic and general staff and students from all sections of the campus for a range of functions in a convivial atmosphere.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, believes that from the perspective of the university, an operation such as the University Club, which stimulates such an interaction between academic and general staff, makes an enormous difference to the spirit of the University.

The University of Wollongong Social Club hosts and subsidises various functions, including monthly luncheons, discount theatre bookings to performances at local theatres, bush walks and wine tasting.

There is a club lounge in the upstairs bar of the UniCentre which is designed to provide a pleasant area for a conversation, dining and reading.

The lounge may be booked for functions, such as research group meetings, receptions for visitors or staff farewells.

The Club is inviting applications for membership, which is available to all categories of University staff as well as to students, Alumni, members of Convocation, the University Council and the Friends Organisation.

The fees range from $30 to $50 annually.
